Health & Safety
Construction by nature is a high-risk industry, involving work with heavy plant, machinery and often in difficult conditions. Therefore, Howard Construction (Anglia) Ltd places paramount importance on the safety and welfare of its workforce.
With the ever-increasing changes in health & safety legislation and law, safety compliance is a vital part of all construction work.
Health & safety is managed by our in-house health & safety advisor, who brings 10 years’ experience of H&S from both private and public sector organisations. We produce full H&S packages, policies, method and risk assessments, and construction phase plans for principal contractor roles, for each project undertaken. Our H&S advisor conducts regular inspections of all sites, advises senior site management of H&S issues and reports findings directly to company directors.
All new employees (including sub- contractors) are inducted into our safety procedures, before commencement on site.
Our workforce is trained or working towards NVQ standard, holding CSCS and CPCS cards, with individuals also holding Street Works’ and Anglian Water Confined space cards for specialist tasks.
Our health & safety advisor also carries out new and refresher training in the form of ‘Toolbox Talks’ and ‘Safety Briefings’ with operatives actively encouraged to participate in discussion
